Frequently asked questions

Is Hane a full Japanese dictionary?

Hane covers JLPT vocabulary and kanji comprehensively. It is designed for learners, so entries include JLPT levels, example sentences, and grammar connections rather than exhaustive historical definitions.

Can I search by drawing a kanji?

Yes. The handwriting input feature lets you draw a kanji to search for it, which is useful when you see an unknown character and do not know its reading.

Does the dictionary work offline?

Yes. Once you have opened the app and loaded content, dictionary lookup works offline.

Can beginners use the dictionary?

Yes. Beginners can look up simple N5 vocabulary and kanji. The detail pages explain readings and meanings in learner-friendly language.
